8 Great Ways to Have Some Frugal Fun!

Did you know that there is a holiday (some official, some unofficial) to celebrate everything from donuts to kale? While I have no clue how people come up with these (seemingly) random things to celebrate, I do know that some of these notable “holidays” are worth my attention. You know, days like Frugal Fun Day! And because I like to get creative and find new ways to make life interesting, I can’t think of anything I would rather do on the 1st Saturday in October than create some frugally inspired fun!

Are you ready to join me for some frugal fun? Check out these 8 ideas that are sure to bring you a little pleasure for a little of nothin’!

Nature and a Nosh — Head to the nearest park. But wait! Don’t forget to pack a lunch! Nothin’ says fun like a fall picnic followed by a nature stroll…or vice versa. And this doesn’t have to be a fancy picnic — throw some peanut butter sandwiches and fruit in a shopping bag and go enjoy some time in nature. Not only is this a frugal activity, but one sure to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit.  Plus, you never know who OR WHAT might decide to join you!

Game Time for the Win — If you are anything like me, you have a stash of games packed away in a closet, just waiting for your attention. Even that old deck of cards can be fun for one or more than one! And if you don’t have board games sitting around, you can always go for a game of Pictionary (all you need is paper, a writing utensil and fun ideas) or Rock Paper Scissors.

Make it a Movie Marathon — No. We are NOT going out to the movies this time as THAT can be the exact opposite of “frugal fun”. But, thanks to Netflix, On Demand, Hulu, Amazon and the like, we can grab out homemade popcorn and catch up on all the big screen blockbusters for a nominal cost.

Fashion Forward — Most of us have clothes in our closet that have not seen the light of day in far too long. Sometimes that’s because we’re just not sure how to pair things up. What better day than today to have a home grown fashion show. Invite a few friends over to join the fun and make the living room your runway!

Pose for the Camera — If we’re doin’ a fashion show we definitely need to take pictures, right?! Go ahead, pull out your fancy-dancy cell phone camera and start channeling your inner Tyra Banks!

Make a Playlist — Music has amazing, transformative powers, often helping lift us up when we are feeling down. Take some time to make yourself a playlist for every day of the week. Sunday’s playlist may have songs that help you get all relaxed as you wind down your weekend and Monday’s tunes might have songs that get you pumped for the week ahead. Maybe Thursday’s list are all your favorite songs to sing along to and Friday’s is all about the dance tunes. Maybe you’ll even find some new genres of music or artists to enjoy. And that playlist will come in handy for your fashion show!

Pantry Potluck — Have you been aching to host a get together with friends but been unsure how to pull it off? Well, today is your day! Invite your friends over for a Pantry Potluck Party where everyone brings something they’ve created from what they could find in their pantry (and fridge). And then you all come together for a good time over things like red beans & rice, tuna noodle casserole and chili. Some options will be GREAT and others will be not-so-great, but you’ll have a good time laughing about the process and exchanging recipes. Sounds like a good time to me!

Just Picture It — OK. I would be remiss in my life coach duties if I did not suggest something as fabulous as time spent in visualization, picturing all the wonder that your life will bring to the world. Seriously, what could be more fun than taking some time to visualize all that you want in and for your life. Visualization is a powerful tool to change your mindset and lead you to manifesting everything your heart desires.

Have other suggestions? I would love to hear what YOU will be doing on Saturday, October 6th to make your Frugal Fun Day one to remember! Send me a message or post a picture of you and your good time on social media (see the buttons below) and make sure you tag me!
